Here are a few recent photos to make up for my lack of posts... sorry!
The first ones are from when my dad and sisters came to visit Honduras! Exciting stuff after you haven't seen anyone in your family for 10 months :)
We went to Roatán, and then drove south through Honduras stopping at Lago de Yojoa before getting to Talanga. I had a great time, and I think they did too. We were lucky though to leave the island of Roatán just 2 days before the 7.1 earthquake hit. It was centered right off the coast of Roatán, but we still felt the effects in Talanga, including the aftershocks with the latest on Sunday. But, luckily there was no serious damage in the town I live in.

The view from our hotel. It was right on the ocean, but the beach was made up completely of black coral- not the best for sunbathing, but still really cool to look at.

The infamous and delicious Monkey LaLa's

Snorkeling in the clear blue waters of West End Beach. The coral reef is only feet away, and it's the 2nd largest reef in the world. Increíble!

Me and my sisters in front of the Caribbean.

Where we stayed in West End. Highly recommended if you ever travel to Roatán, which is also highly recommended!

Kayaking on the Lago Yojoa.

First step in living in Talanga: Put up your mosquito net so you don't get eaten alive in the middle of the night.

Gabby is so cute... even when calling someone a "Chancho"- translating to pig, haha.

Diego and Francia, my host brother and sister celebrating their 15th birthdays which is a big event here.

Just a cool picture from the hill overlooking Talanga...

Christibel- an adorable little girl from Correlitos

The people in Correlitos had a small reception to thank us and the previous group for the latrine project we facilitated there. I thought this sign was cool- next to the tree it says "this was my latrine before," and above the latrine picture it says "thanks to the Passionists we now have latrines."

It sounds like you had a great time with your family when they were down. There are a few nice places to visit in Honduras it sounds like.
We were concerned about the earthquake and it must have been real close to where you were when Joe and the sisters were there.Sometimes the good lord is looking after us .
When you get back in August you will be able to look back on your yr. there and realize how much good you did in your year there. It sounds like it is a major battle to make a difference in a situation like you write about, but the kids you help will remember you forever.
Keep nup the good work and we will see you in August.
Love and prayersm
Grandpa
